Category 1 Roads - is inclusive of single carriageway roads with a posted speed limit of:

• less than 60 km/h where the Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) is less than 10,000, or

• 110 km/h or less where the AADT is less than 3,000.

TC1 (traffic controller) and TMI1 (Traffic management implementer) Urban and Low Volume rural Roads includes:

• 3-day Program 2 days theory one day practical

For competition of the course the candidate must complete:

• 20 hours work development under supervision on CAT 1 roads.

• Must be completed within 6 months of training date.

  • Include 1 occasion of assisting pedestrians

  • Include 1 occasion of using a portable traffic control device

  • And be able to control traffic using a stop / slow device.

Course Fee per Individual $980. Payable on enrollment $750, workplace assessment fee $230. Business Corporate Rate will apply for group booking CITB funding may be available up to $440 .

Assessment Requirement - Attendance at the course and completed the theory component of the program successfully

Completes the three required TMI set ups within six months of the course date. The assessment is to be conducted on a live worksite The student requires a placement with an approved traffic management company to achieve the practical outcomes of the course, please contact the RTO for details.

• RIIWHS205E - Control Traffic with Stop/Slow Bat

• RIIWHS206 - Control traffic with portable traffic control devices and temporary traffic signs

• RIIRIS301E – Apply risk management processes

• RIIWHS302E – Implement traffic management plans

• RIIWHS303 – Position, set up and program portable traffic control devices

Skillset statements of completion will be recorded for RIISS00058 and RIISS00060 Successful persons will be issued with a temporary card, and be eligible for the SA Department of Infrastructure and Transport traffic management card for CAT 1 Roads
