Verification of Competency - VOC
In addition to providing high-quality Nationally Recognised training and assessment services, Carlisle Learning and Development offers Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments to support employers in confirming their workers’ current abilities.
Ensure your team is safe, skilled, and compliant.
A VOC (Verification of Competency) is an industry-recognised assessment used to confirm that a worker can safely and competently operate a specific piece of plant or equipment.
What is a VOC?
-
Purpose: Verify a worker’s skills and knowledge are current and meet WHS requirements.
-
Who Uses It: Employers use VOCs to ensure compliance with legislation and confirm their workforce is competent for specific tasks.
-
How It’s Done:
-
Theory Check: Questions to confirm understanding of safe operation and procedures.
-
Practical Demonstration: Operate the equipment to demonstrate competency.
-
-
Evidence Required: Participants must already hold:
-
Statement of Attainment for the relevant unit
-
High-Risk Work Licence (if applicable)
-
Or previous training records
-
Outcome: VOC does not provide training or a nationally recognised qualification. It confirms competency at the time of assessment, with participants receiving a VOC slip on the day and a wallet-sized card shortly after.
In short, a VOC is a snapshot of current ability to safely operate equipment, helping employers manage safety and compliance.
